KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the national airline company of the Netherlands.  Founded in 1919, KLM is based in Amsterdam, at Schiphol Airport.
Air-France-KLM is part of the SkyTeam Alliance, along with Aeroflot, AeroMexico, Air Europa, Alitalia, China Southern, Continental Airlines, Copa Airlines, CSA Czech Airlines, Delta, Kenya Airways, Korean Air, Northwest Airlines (NWA).

KLM is at the core of the KLM Group, made up of KLM Cityhopper and of the low cost airline company Transavia. Before the 2004 merger with Air France, KLM was the national airline of the Netherlands.  With the merger, the first European airline group was born, with operating bases in the important hubs of Paris Charles De Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol.

10.04.2008: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and OneCarbon have jointly engaged in an emission reduction project. This project provides KLM with the opportunity to make its growth carbon neutral and to offer passengers the possibility to compensate their carbon footprint. The companies are jointly engaged in the development of Gold Standard voluntary emission reduction projects, which focuses on reducing CO2 emissions through renewable energy and energy efficiency activities.

04.03.2008: KLM will operate, starting March 30th, 2008, 2 new daily flights to North America: Amsterdam Schiphol - Dallas, Texas and Amsterdam Schiphol - Portland, Oregon (the flight will be operated by Northwest Airlines, a KLM partner).
As of March 30th, KLM will operate three weekly flights from Amsterdam to Panama City’s Tocumen International Airport, KLM’s 62nd intercontinental destination.

23.02.2008: KLM will begin operating service between Amsterdam and Linköping, Sweden, 200km south of Stockholm. KLM is the first major international airline to serve a Swedish destination outside the major metropolitan areas.  KLM becomes the first international airline company to serve 3 destinations in Sweden (Stockholm, Linköping, and Gothenburg)
